Les Bories, Creissan

Les Bories, Creissan. 7.7km. 2H30 (you can also do the 6km variant 2H). Blue. This is an easy walk with lovely views and lots of variety. Starting at the stade in Creissan, which is just up behind the village with plenty of parking. Walking away from the village keep on the well marked trail of blue markers. There are lots of little marked trails up here but these ones are easy to spot. Finally at a junction you will reach the point where you can take the shorter route but as the route was not a long one we continued on This extra loop is rather lovely taking you down into a little reisseau and then up through vineyards with fine views. As you climb up to join the other path/road you will enjoy wonderful views of the surrounding area; the black mountains, Espinouse and Caroux. A little way after this junction take a small track to your right, that leaves the little road to cross stoney country with red rocks and spectacular views. This track climbs right up to the top of the hill before bearing left and enjoying some lovely poppy fields. Now in pine woods once again the path reaches an area of sports equipment where you can enjoy a picnic with a lovely view of the village near the water tanks before descending down to join a little road leading back into the village. The walk passes through the village centre. This village has plenty of character with a chateau and water pump. There was also a nice restaurant I noticed for those who would rather wait for a more civilized lunch. Now follow the blue markers back uphill on a left turn to reach the car park.

Mount Liausson. A glorious walk in the Languedoc.

Mount Liausson. 7km 3H. Medium. Yellow markers and easy to follow. This is a walk of pure joy, a delicious mix of village, lake views, woodland and ridge walking. The views are so extensive, it's like you are on the top of the world.

A stunning view of Moureze on on side and beautiful Lac Salagou on the other. Here you can see the coastal plain, Pic Vissou, over to Pic saint Baudille and even down to the Pyrenees on a clear day.. Wonderful. And the colour is just amazing. Yellows, greens, blues and the reds and greys of the rocks. Just lovely.

The walk starts from the little village of Liausson, where you will find parking in the centre. Turn right and walk a little way down the road (follow the yellow markers all the way) until you come to a left turn. Take this small road which soon turns into a track at the next left turn. The path becomes smaller and steeper as it twists up to the col.

At the col you will find a junction of paths, where the route to the top merges with that of the one coming up from Moureze. Turn left at this col and take the little path that rises steeply to the ridge. Here the route is shared with yellow, green and blue markers but keep to the yellow ones. The ridge is your prize for getting to the top. Views to the north of the lake and to the south of the cirque de moureze. 

Continue on this path to the end of the ridge, soon the path will start to descend a little and the blue path will leave to the right. Keep going straight on and you will see that the path starts to descend and curve towards the lake once again. 

It's quite a steep path down but with beautiful views and wonderful flowers all the time. (You can leave the track on the left to see a large monolith if you wish). Keep on the track down to join the road in the village once again. Turn left and return to the car park.

There appeared to be an auberge in the village, but I would take your own picnic if you can as it didn't look very open. Enjoy this beautiful walk.

Le Dolmen, Cebazan. A walk in the vineyards and with lovely views.

Le Dolmen, Cebazan.

A super walk despite the cloudy weather, it even rained a little. Le Dolmen, Cebazan. 7.7km /2h30m Easy.

The walk starts at a small car park at the top of the village (there are a couple more car parks if needed). Well sign posted with blue markers and clear signs at start and along the route.

The route starts at the Rue du Fraisse and after leaving the village crosses a small road before going straight up the path. 

The path turns to the left and passes a small lake,then you take a right turn to take you to the top where you see DFCI signs. 

The route turns right and goes along the ridge with beautiful views.You will see 2 small cabins and the Dolmen sign beside a green water tank.

Take a sharp right here and walk down the hill to the road. Turn right and follow the road for a short way before taking a left up a track that goes above the castle of Camp Redon. 

At the top of the hill take a right turn and pass a small olive farm before turning right again and passing an area of scrub-land dotted with Capitelles. 

The wild track turns to the right at a lime kiln below the Puech of Tabernacles. Take this track down to the village, joining the D612. Turn to the right at the roundabout walk down to the small car park.
