Roquebrun

A beautiful walk by the river at Roquebrun yesterday. This is part of the lovely blue walk that starts in the village and takes in all the lovely vineyards of the area before returning to the pretty river. My family with their baby had enjoyed a walk around the beautiful village while I walked along the river Orb with our dog.
There is also a very good Mediterranean garden above the village, with lovely views. 

Gorge d'Heric, Mons.

Always a great walk, even when the weather is damp. Walking from Mons through the woods to the Gorge d'heric. I met my family there who travelling in the car with the baby in the buggy. There is a good car park there, free until the 15th April but 3.50Euros after that. Dogs on leads in the gorge, but a great place for a buggy walk. Lots of water in the river at the moment. With a bright day expected tomorrow would be a super place to walk the 5km to the top. It's quite a long walk and takes about an hour from Mons to Heric.

Voie verte, Mons

A short walk along the Voie verte this morning. I picked some lovely mint for making tea along the way. You can park in Mons, plenty of refreshments in the village too. Pretty views along the way.

Mons, gorge d'heric and La coste.

A pretty afternoon walk taking around an hour, on old paths. Starting in Mons and walking along the yellow/red path through the woods to the gorge. Once in the gorge, cross the first small footbridge and then keep right along the side of the river on yellow markers. This path is a little rocky but very nice. Just before the hamlet of La Coste take the wide path with no colour markings down to the voie verte. Turn right onto the green route and cross the bridge. Then follow the blue markers down to the bottom of the car park -picnic area. Beside the little garden under the arches you will find a tiny path between the river and the gorge car park. This pretty old path has badger setts on it and comes out at the top of the parking area. There are picnic tables, a cafe and toilets here. Just before the road follow the blue markers to your left and through the little hamlet of le verdier haut. Now turn right and cross the road to return through the wood to Mons. You can shorten the route by parking in the gorge car park. A get place to park a camper van too. Free until the 15th April then 3 euros fifty for cars and 6 for campervans

Herepian to Lamalou-les-Bains on the Voie verte.

Walking from Herepian on the Voie verte this morning. There are lots of good places to park along this 80km walking/biking and horse riding route. Today we parked next to the Intermarche car park and walked towards Lamalou-les-Bains.

Les Trois Tours, Faugeres

Les Trois Tours, Faugeres this afternoon. Lots of people up there enjoying a Sunday afternoon stroll. You can park at several points along the little road leading up from the D909. It's a good road all the way until you reach the corner where you turn for the old windmills on the hill. From here you can walk out to the old stone cabrieres where the hill farmers once lived, enjoy the ancient route leading to the Frog (a junction of ancient routes), go north towards Soumartre or visit the lovely mills themselves.

Aigues Vives, La Voie Romaine,

A lovely walk from Aigues Vives on the Avant Monts today. La Voie Romaine. Around 12 km. Blue markers. Parking at the edge of the hamlet near to the starting point of the walk. This is a fairly long walk of around 2.5 H or 3.45 H. After leaving the village and heading down la route de Saint Nazaire, continue by curving south and keep on this wide track as it twists its way through the garrigue and kennel oak forest. Beautiful changing views onto the plain as you go along. Finally you will reach a forest road, turn right onto this for a very short time before leaving it once again to join a small stony path heading uphill on your right. After quite some time you will join another track, keep right and this too will join the forest road once again. Here you can join a tiny path to your right on this junction or continue a few yards up to join the red/yellow+blue route continuing up. If you take the first shorter option you will shortly join the Reseau Vert going back down to Aigues Vives or continue on the main route still following the blue markers up to the top of the chestnut woods and back down to the village on the longer route.
