La Charbonniere, Fos. 6.5 km 2H. Easy. Blue. Take the D136
to Fos. A lovely little walk perfect for family walks. It goes through lovely vineyards and woods before a nice little route around the lovely village.
Park at the Mairie and follow the blue markers up to La Rue des
Hortensias. Turning left for some lovely views of the Caroux and the Avant
Monts.
Turn left again and the little road continues down past vineyards on
either side of the road and with views towards Roquessels until it reaches the
D136 again. Cross the road and take the track opposite that very soon turns
into a little path.
The path turns left and down through vineyards again to a
larger track which joins the road once more.
At the road you have a choice to
turn right to the picnic area and information boards but there it's much there
so I would suggest that you just turn left at the road onto the path that
doubles back and goes up first through vineyards and then woods to return to
the village.
Once you reach the village follow the blue markers right around
the village to the site of the Charcoal burners. It's very interesting with
lots of information boards and so nice to see the village from different
angles.
The route returns to the village on the top road and passes several
wine production buildings and a chance to taste the wine along the route if you
are interested. It's a pretty little route and suitable for families.
