Le Trou de Meteore, a delightful walk from Cadrerolles, Languedoc.

A very pretty walk up under the Avant Monts, starting from the pretty village of Cabrerolles. 5.5km / 2h and no markings. Park beside the pretty old church, which I believe said dated back to the 11th century.

The village has another walk that is marked with blue and takes you around the beautiful 12th century castle and chapel of Norte Dame de la Roque. It's a lovely area and a pretty village that tucks into a combe under the Pico Coquillade.

Form the church turn right and take the road for Aigues Vives (D136E4) up the slope and follow it to an intersection, just before leaving the village. Here you will see a small cross, turn left down a small road that quickly turns into a track.

You will pass a second cross before arriving at a crossroads in the vineyards. Turn left, the track goes up a little rise you will soon come to another junction. You now have to decide if you want to go down to see the meteor hole.

If you choose to do this small diversion take the track to your right (if you don't take the track to the left) and follow it down hill to the vineyard at the bottom where you can view it well. It's an interesting curiosity, surrounded by think trees. Now go back up the same way and turn right at the top.

You know walk up among the vineyards and have lovely views of the rolling hills down to the coast and far away to the mountains in the south. Soon you come to a place called La Poujade which is just above the crossroads of La Liquiere and Lentheric.

Take the path to the right that winds through more vineyards and ignore any other paths to the left (It's very pretty here, with vineyards on steep hillsides). After sometime you to a crossroads, turn right here and a little further on you join the track where you started (lovely views here of the castle and chapel).

Walk to the end of the track and turn left onto the road to find the church. It's a really lovely walk with beautiful flowers, rolling hills, great views of the area and the castle above.
