Ocknell Plain, New Forest

Beautiful walk and picnic today parking at Milkham Inclosure and walking up and across Ocknell Plain to Holly Hatch Inclosure. Then back across Broomy Plain. Lovely in the bright winter sunshine. We enjoyed a picnic in the forest watching a herd of deer running past. The High Corner Inn is nearby if you want to combine a walk and lunch out. The tracks are all good except the one that crosses Ocknell Plain, you will need boots for this part, the rest is on cycle tracks.

From the car park, walk up the road opposite until you reach a barrier. Take the track on your left here to cross Ocknell plain. Go through the gate into the forest and turn left after a short distance, onto the main track. After the next gate, turn left and walk up to the heathland of Broomy Plain. Pass the ponds and continue to the road. A short distance from the road turn right, cross the road, keeping left and walk up towards the trees. The car park is a short distance away.
