La Cabriere, Herault, France

La Cabriere. 2 H. Easy. Yellow and green. Always a superb walk. We normally park at La Fageand walk out on the yellow route, walking to the zigzags then returning via Madale and the GR7 back. This time we decided to vary the walk and after walking to Comere we took the little green path up over the top to enjoy the wonderful Serre de La Cabriere with its stunning views and rock formations. The yellow route along the gorge is really spectacular with beautiful wild flowers and views points. Once you reach the large cairns you will find the green route up to the serre that runs along the edge of the quarry. After the quarry you can turn either way, left down to reach the lower path once again or right as we did to take the wide quarry track back to the parking area. The area is stunning at the moment with broom but the heather is also just beginning. While we enjoyed our picnic lunch a pair of eagles flew over us, hanging on the wind. Just a fantastic place.
