A delightful walk just to the north of Roujan today. This is a blue marked walk. It's a long 13.6 km walk that takes 4H 20 but we have split the walk into 3 shorter walks. Having enjoyed the first part that starts from Roujan and walks out to the Chateau de Cassan, then heads north. We made a circuit of this first part and so today did the upper part of the walk which was so very beautiful. We took the first left turn out of Gabian to reach a small parking area where the second part of the walk can be accessed. After parking turn right and head along the little road a few yards to reach a small track to your left. You will see the blue markers here. This track is easy to follow as the blue markers are well presented. The views are splendid the whole way around this lovely circuit. Orchids, broom and other wonderful wild flowers form both little meadows between the vine crops or beautiful low garrigue. I say low as there must have been a rather large fire here in recent years, the land has healed itself beautiful but the higher trees have not had a chance to grow yet, so lots and lots of flowers and views. The track goes around the pylons and once under them heads to go around the back of a beautiful rocky perch. Now the track heads down to find the road. Turn right. You will soon come to a sign for a picnic area on your left . I think this is where the walk doubles back to take you up into the hills once again but we didn't take this extra bit as we are saving it for another time. I think you should be able to park here. Carry on along the road and shortly after passing under an old railway bridge you will come to a crossroads.(the main walk carries on here to reach Roujan again). Turn right at the crossroads and follow this little road all the way back to the car parking area. Lots of delightful meadows and flowers along here and the pines smelt of summer promises. I think the walk that we did today must be about 7 km.
