Saint-Genies-de-Fontedit,

Saint-Genies-de-Fontedit today. 8km/2H . Blue markers. We had already completed the upper part of this walk in the springtime last year but returned today to do the lower section. Starting by parking near the boules park, we turn left towards the D16 and walked a little way down to visit the lovingly restored Chapelle St-Fulcran that is on a little hill surrounded by pine trees. This made a lovely little stop for a coffee and if doing the full circular walk it would be a perfect place for lunch as they are plenty of picnic benches. We walked back to the road, crossing it beside the old cross and enjoying a small track across the fields for a short distance before unfortunately having to undertake a length of road walking on the D154E2. It's not a busy road but you turn right onto it and then left onto the D16E4 uphill with small super views. At the top of the hill you will see a small cross roads. Take the little road to your left. At the bottom of this there is a right turn onto a little dirt path that reaches the D154. Turn right onto this road and walk the short distance to reach a small road to your left. Walk down this road for some distance until you almost reach the D18 , just before it is a left turn that takes you back into the fields and around the Puech de la Caunette. Just before you reach the village you will pass another cross and keep on this road until you reach the park once again. It wasn't very sunny today, but it's a lovely area on a sunny day and they are some beautiful flowers in the vineyards at the moment. The views are wonderful here on a clear day too.
