Holm Hill, New Forest.

Beautiful walk at Holm Hill, near Rhinefield today. We parked at Whitefield Moor car park and crossed the road to walk across White Moor, it was rather gloomy up there but mild and lots of people were out enjoying a winter's outing with their dogs, horses, children and bikes. We walked over the healthland to an area of wetland and a small stream then up to some clumps of pine. The path continue to cross Ober water, before going into the forest inclosure. Here we stopped for a picnic before continuing on a rather muddy section through the pines and the oak/beech forest. After crossing the road we took the track opposite then down to Ober water once again to cross the main bridge by the car park there and on up to the large car parking area at the top where it was lovely to see several families picnicking despite the lack of sunshine. 1.5 hours, 3 miles. http://www.new-forest-national-park.com/holm-hill-walk.html. Some of the posts and fences are no longer visible on this walk guide but it's ok still to follow.
