Holt Heath, Dorset.

Holt Heath. 4 miles/2 hours. A beautiful walk on easy ground, no hills and mostly good tracks.

Park at White Sheet Plantation Picnic area car park. Take the track on the south side of the car park that goes down a wide wood track at first and then across heathland.

Keep on this track until it meets a junction. You can go over the stile and straight through the wood but it's quite muddy at the moment. Instead turn right and left onto a good track before the farm. Both track reach the same point.

Now on a good track through a woodland path continue until you reach a house, now keep left on the Castleman trailway path towards Ringwood.

At the next junction you will see signs for Ringwood and Poole and another signposted just as a footpath, take the latter. Follow this little track/road down past a kennel and on until you reach a bend in the track/road. Go through the gate and turn immediately left onto a boardwalk.

Continue on this track until you reach a junction and then keep right. When you see a house (Holt Heath) you need to go straight ahead at this junction and then left at the next one. Very shortly you will see a small bridleway on your right, take this and you will reach a junction.

Turn left and then right back onto the heathland. Now continue on this track until you come to woodland. Once in the woodland you will see a small arrow pointing left. This path will return you to the car park shortly. Super walk.

Can be made shorter by cutting across the heath instead of using the Castleman trailway or longer by continuing on the track after the bend near the boardwalk instead of taking it, this track will take you to the top of the heathland.
