Le Tour du Mouscaillou. Rosis

Le Tour du Mouscaillou. Rosis. 8km. 2H 20m Easy walking with gentle slopes. An absolutely delightful walk in every way. Starting at the Col de Madale with it good sized car park and walking up D180 towards Rosis for about 50m. Now bear left onto a small road, this soon crosses a bridge and continues on though pretty countryside with masses of cowslips and orchids in the meadows and woodland. After a while you will see a small track on your right (private), pass this and continue on to a little path about 100m further. Turn right down this little path to reach the little private. Keep straight on up the hill with the private signs to your left, you will notice blue dots on this section of the walk. Passing the house keep straight on and into the lovely beech woods. The trees are just coming out into leaf at the moment and the woodland is just magical here as you continue on this little draille to reach Rosis. You can hear the river and birds everywhere here. To your left is a lovely chateau and to your right are two beautiful little waterfalls. Cross the little small and then the river on the pretty bridge and follow the tiny path into Rosis. Now cross the road and go up through the village keeping right at the two junctions. At the top of the hamlet is a little path that rises a little to level out and reach the wide col d'Aussieres. Massaral is the hill opposite but cross to the middle track that descends on a wide forest track through chestnuts down to a point where it switchbacks left and continues down to meet a yellow route near a rocky outcrop. Now turn right to continue on the yellow route heading east. Finally reaching the windy Col de vente Vieille where you leave the yellow route and turn right onto the red/yellow route which is also marked with a blue line here. This is a tiny rocky path with amazing views towards the coast and up to the Monts d'orb. Continue on this little path all the way back to the car park. There is a route map and area map at the end of the pictures but I would advise strongly to purchase the wonderful Caroux Chemins du Haut Languedoc Randonnees book and the companion map Caroux- Espinouse 1/15000 if you enjoy this sort of walking there are some great routes for both easy and long distance harder walks.
