A beautiful 4 hour walk this morning with Phoebe. It was cloudy on the first uphill part of the walk so that helped but pretty hot and sunny on the way back down. We stopped for a few lunch and coffee stops and Phoebe enjoyed some paddles, rolls in the leaves and evening laid down for a few minutes which is quite unknown for her.
This walk starts in Mons and follows the red/yellow markers up to the col du Bardou on the ravine path. I turn right and then cross to the little blue route opposite. It's only about 100m down here that you get the best view of the Heric gorge and a perfect lunch spot. After that I return to the GR7/red/white and head left down to the gorge. It's pretty through the chestnut woods and after a while you reach the old bridge over the heric. The sun was coming out not and it was getting quite hot so Phoebe enjoyed her first paddle of the day. The path crosses the bridge and goes steadily up to the hamlet of Heric. There is a good spot to stop on the way with a lovely pool. Once in Heric there is a lovely buvette to rest at if you wish. The lady there is always happy to make tea/coffee, sell you lunch or an ice cream and you can even enjoy a beer. Now continue out of the hamlet and down the little concrete road through the gorge. It's a lovely walk, in mostly shade of trees. It gets busy here in the summer with visitors enjoying the cool waters and little beaches. It really is a beautiful spot but there isn't a lot of water in the river again this summer. At the bottom there is a large car park to your left. You can always get refreshments here too. Now go on to reach another yellow/red marker and a little ramp to your right. This path with take you back through the woods to Mons.
