Mons la Trivalle and La Volte.

A beautiful walk with Phoebe my collie down to La Trivalle and onto La Volte, then up above to the lovely garrigue with its scents of thyme and rosemary. Coming back into Mons the air was filled with the scent of the bright yellow mimosa. Such a beautiful day again.
This is an easy walk that takes about 1h30. A few markers. Start at the church in Mons and walk down the little lane beside the church (blue markers). At the bottom turn left and walk towards the village centre. Here there is a bakers, auberge, OT, village shop, PO and a tabac. Turn right and over the bridge to a junction. Take the left fork and head up hill, turn around and enjoy the views of the beautiful Caroux. Go down to the next junction. (You can make a detour here and turn left to look at the old mill near the yellow bridge). or (You can go on to the little church at La Volte and under it to the castle ruins with wonderful views up to the old church with the Caroux behind). The walk itself turns right at the junction in the vineyards and winds down to the river Jaur. Continue on up the track now through the garrigue. The views are wonderful here of the valley, it's villages and the Espinouse/Caroux. At the top you will come to a gate. Turn right after the gate and take the little road back into La Trivalle. Return the same way as you came down from Mons.
