A La decouverte du causse, Bedarieux.

A La decouverte du causse, Bedarieux. 9km 3H. A walk of tiny country lanes, tiny old stone walled paths and a stretch on little alleyways near the river in Bedarieux.

We found the walk to be pleasant and rural, very interesting, but not at all wild.  We started this walk from the station car park in Bedarieux although it's really starting point is the Tourist office car park by the town bridge.

We walked up to join the route as it crosses the D35 in Bedarieux this way we were straight up onto the little routes in the countryside.

Soon you turn left to cross the railway and then left again onto a small lane, which bear right, before turning right onto a little stone walled track.

The track takes a few lefts and rights following the blue markers before joining a small road, that bears right, then goes downhill.

The route then doubles back but be careful here as the marker says next left but it is in fact the second left under the little driveway, the route follows a tiny old path between the house and it's drive. Now go up through the trees on this tiny path and it will reach another small road. The route bears to the left and then turns right to down another track.

The route joins another road and crosses to the right to go down a little path before popping up a few yards down the road. Keep going down the hill until you reach a signpost. The route splits here for a shorter variant.

Take the road to your left and continue until it splits left again. Soon the track passes vines and then goes into a walled track to reach a junction.

Turn right and go down hill following the bend at first and then straight down to the small railway tunnel. Cross the main road and follow the blue markers carefully into town. It passes under the viaduct and then to the town bridge, cross the road (there are road works here at the moment) continue on on small alley ways to come out where you began the walk. The walk through the back of town is very interesting as are the Causses but there was rather too much road walking for us.
