Pierrerue

Pierrerue. 7km, 2H. Blue markers. The village can be found just to the east of St-Chinian. Take the D134 to the village centre and park next to the village pump.

There is a shaded play area and picnic benches there too. The walk description is on the road to the church opposite and tells you to do the walk the other way around, but the markers are pretty good either way.

Walk up the hill to your right and enjoy the lovely views as you leave the village of the Black mountains,

St-Chinian and the Espinouse in the distance. Take a right turn at the top and then keep going along the beautiful high valley planted with fields of vines turning gold, yellow and reds. Magic.

The track passes a red barrier on your left making the entrance to the wild boar enclosure. Keep straight and at a junction you will come to a right turn taking you down to the road.

Just before the track bends to met the D134 take a tiny path in the corner and keep up on the high bank above the road.

Finally joining the road and passes a couple of old stone buildings. Cross the road at a junction of tracks, the signs are confusing here but go up the path on your right. (If doing the walk the other way, note that you turn left as the blue sign is for a different walk).

You will very shortly reach a right turn going downhill. Stop here and enjoy the beautiful views, you can see you to the distant mountains, it's a super spot for a picnic.

Now taking the small track to your right follow it down first through scrubby trees and then beautiful vineyards once again.

The route is a delight. Now the route bends right and then left again. Almost back into the village. Go down the track through pretty olive fields, where they have begun the harvest.

The route now comes up the upper track to the village and after going left and then right back into the village, passes the pretty old church and returns to the old washing buildings. Such a nice, easy going walk for an autumn day
