Fouzilhon

Fouzilhon. 8km. 2.30H. easy.Blu waymarks on full walk but we turned off and did the eastern half with an easy unsign posted diversion.

A really love walk with a good wild feel about it. We enjoyed watching rabbits on the scrubby tops and listening to larks up above. Very peaceful spot for a good walk.

The walk starts by taking the D174 to Fouzilhon. Parking is found at the southern end of the village next to the Boules area.

This is also where the walk begins. Now walk up towards the cemetery and turn right off onto another small track road through the vineyards.

The colours are changing in the vineyards at the moment and there were a couple of tractors about ploughing but otherwise there was no one around.

The little road passes a wooded hill and drops down onto the D174, turn right here and walk for a few minutes down the road to a left turn on a corner. It's not a busy road, we only saw one car.

Take the left turn up the incline and follow the main wide dirt track as it goes over the hill on scrubby land. The track narrows to a small pathway through a stone walled track between previously brunt garrigue.

The land is recovering well and it has a lovely airy feel here. When the path reaches a wide track in a large cleared area the route turn right and follows the wider track through this grassy area.

The views are beautiful up here and we picniced on a stone wall overlooking the beautiful Avant monts. just after the boundary wall there is a track to the left leave the blue markers here.

Follow this at first through the scrubby woodland and then down a concrete lane through vineyards back to Fouzilhon.

The village itself is medieval and is lovely to wander up the little passages to the church and the viewpoint at the top. We decided we liked the walk so much we would return another time to do the western side of the walk.

The full walk is 11.5km and takes 3.45H. It's one of the boxed set leaflets. No 6. Although there is a map on the last picture.
