Margon

Margon. 9km. 2.30H (This is part of a 13km/4.15H walk) Blue markers. Having already completed the easterly side of this walk during the spring we decide to enjoy the western side of it today.

The whole walk is a moderate one but if you halve it they are both easy. Start in the little car park opposite the chateau.

We did the walk in reverse so you may want to do it the other way around as the blue markers are on the back of posts as you complete the walk, but with a map it doesn't map. If you don't I would just follow the blue markers on route.

This is how we did the walk. Leaving Margon by taking the the signposted direction left. Turn right after a few metres and go down the hill past a lovely childrens playground.

Turn right down a small track to a little picnic area and play area/sports area.

After a couple of minutes the track bears to the left and then the right. A few more twists and turns and then you cross the D30, taking the passage Raye towards Pouzolles.

The track passes through an area of housing and then into a small building development, keep to the right through it.

Follow the road up to an evaporation lake near the top of the hill. To your left at the top is a way up to the Puech Foario, which makes a nice spot with lovely views for a lunch break.

Now continue along the lane.

It very pretty here with lovely views across the valley of the vineyards and mountains beyond. The track turns right and then left again.

At a crossroads of tracks now take the left turn. As we were returning to the village centre we took the next right down a small track, it isn't on the route but brings you back to the chateau without going onto the road.
