Le Courbezou, Bedarieux

Le Courbezou, Bedarieux. 6km. 2H. relatively easy, partly marked. A 3.5km. 1H blue marked walk is also possible here which is very easy.

Take the D146 on the south eastern side of Bedarieux, signposted Pezenes-les-mines. Park at the "Parcours sante" car park on your left up a small track road for a few metres. The shorter walk is mainly on a fitness  activity track and the site of Arbre 24.

There are also cycle circuits here. The shorter walk just follows the blue markers but we took the first right turn just before the activity centre.

The track leaves the pine woods and goes through garigue just under the new and very large solar farm. After some time the track appears to split into two small ones. Take the right hand one that goes uphill. The narrow path turns to the left and passes a disused building.

Keep on the small path as it rises quite steeply up to a clear area just under the top of the cone shaped and tree covered Le Courbezou. When the small path goes under the overhead power lines turn left onto a wider track. The views are beautiful up here,

I would say on a clear sunny day it would probably be some of the finest in the valley. In front of you to the west is the beautiful Caroux with the Avant Monts to the south and the Monts d'orb to the north. Now join the wide track beside a cattle grid and go left downhill to join the fitness track at a barrier. Turn right and right again at the next junction.

The trail leaves the main track and cuts uphill through the pine trees before descending and turning right and left as it continues. Follow the main track back to the cars. The are a number of wooden fitness equipment along the second part of the route.
