Le Tres Termes, Lamalou-les-Bains

Le Tres Termes, Lamalou-les-Bains.7km, 2h. A lovely walk in the cool woodland of the hills between Lamalou-les-Bains and Le Poujol-sur-Orb . This is a favourite walk of ours that we normally do in reverse, but as it was hot today we thought we would try doing the Voie verte part first. Park at the old station in Lamalou-les-Bains and walk towards Le poujol-sur-Orb on the Voie verte. You will pass the lovely old 12th century church of St Pierre de Rhodes. It's worth stopping to look at this but you can save it for the way back if you like. Go on to Le Poujol-sur-Orb. There is a little shady Guinguette on the voie verte here for refreshments. Just past the Guinguette there are steps up to a small road that runs parallel to the voie verte. Take these and at the next car park near the church in Poujol turn right up the marked track-red/white (GR). This little road leads up though pretty fields with lovely views to reach the woods. keep right as you zigzag past the vines and then left on the next bend. The GR goes up on a lovely old draille to reach a junction of paths. Leave the GR and yellow route by taking the track to your right. This track contours the hill in shady woodland of chestnuts and pine trees. The route joins another track, turn left and pass the water tank, turn right here and then left onto the GR. This is rocky path that leads down through the trees. Look out for a sign on a bend that has a cycle route marker and also a blue dot. Now turn right down this fairly steep, tiny path. Keep right at the first junction and then left at the second to arrive back at the Voie verte. Turn left onto it and you will shortly be back at the car park.
