Lisson, L'Ayette and Fenoullede, Ornac, Mons.

Lisson, L'Ayette and Fenoullede, Ornac, Mons. A beautiful walk this afternoon and evening with my dog Phoebe. It was a bit of a ramble over the hills really and we were out for about 3 or 4 hours. If you fancy doing this walk you need to park in Mons, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you either know the area well or don't mind following a map rather than a marked out route. Start at the church in Mons and walk down the little road to the Voie verte, turn right and join the greenway. At the St Julien car parking area you will see a lovely vineyard building. Take the little road left down to join the main road. Turn right and after walking a few metres towards Olargues, turn off left down a track beside a field. Cross the river and turn right onto a small track. The track quickly becomes a tiny path that runs under the rock. There is a pretty area to bath in along the river here, great for dogs too. When you reach a post with a gold top turn left up the tiny path. The path is not too steep along it can be a little difficult to follow as it makes its way through oak and chestnut woods. Soon the path leaves the gully and turns left uphill, passing a house in the woods to your left. Continue on the track now to reach a wider track at a junction. Now turn right and follow this track to the vineyards on the hill above Lisson. This is the tricky bit. Find the tiny track at the top of the fields and head up to L'Ayrette and Fenouilledes. If you can't find it, just work your way up throgh the forest to find a tiny path. Go right on it and then left onto the main track leading towards the col. Turn left and heads back to Fenoullede. (You can go right and down the tiny path at the col if you wish) . Continue on the little road to reach the beautiful serre de Ornac with it's amazing views of the Caroux and the Espinouse. Passing through Ornac turn right, then up the hill into Mons after crossing the bridge. Before the main road turn right up to the road into La Trivalle and the pass through the village to take the other road back up to Mons.
